What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the website we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Who we share your data with
We advertise on Facebook, and as a result, use a Facebook “pixel” on our site. This pixel enables tracking of visitor behavior on our website to enable us to ensure the effectiveness of our advertising. Customer orders for our print products are fulfilled by a professional print lab, White House Custom Colour (WHCC). We use Mailchimp to handle our email list for customer updates & marketing. Their privacy policy is here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/
We also use Google Analytics to measure traffic to our website. This means user behavior on the site is shared with Google for use in their analytics reporting.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their own personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Customers that purchase our products (fulfilled via the WHCC as described above) may use a guest checkout or register for an account. In either case, personal information such as name, address, phone number, and email address are stored indefinitely. We do not, and will not in the future, sell your data to any third party, although we may use a third party email marketing system to send marketing and informational updates to you.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How to Opt Out
Please note, we do not sell your data. It is shared only as needed to conduct normal business operations, and as described in these paragraphs.
If you have signed up for our email list, or if you have made a purchase from us, you are on our customer list. You may receive email or paper mail updates such as special offers, and details of new photographic works. If you no longer wish to receive these, you may opt out by emailing bill@billheiserphoto.com. All opt out requests will be handled as quickly as practical.
