Another Tool Added to the Toolkit

View from high in the trees of the evening light over the Sierra foothills

Hi everyone, Happy Friday! I have some good news to share today. You may have noticed I’ve been somewhat absent from posting here for a while. I’ve been heads-down studying!

A while back I decided to add “aerial photography” to my repertoire, as it provides viewpoints & perspectives that we can’t get from the ground, and I purchased a quadcopter (aka drone or “small unmanned aerial system”). FAA regulations require that drone pilots doing any commercial work be licensed (and Bill Heiser Photography is a Business).

After taking a course, and doing a lot of studying, I passed the required exam this week, and have received my temporary certificate while the FAA processes the permanent one. This means I can start capturing photos (and video) that I can share here & add to my list of photos for purchase in print.

Here’s one (which I shot while still flying recreationally), to whet your appetite. I got this from near a forest road in my area. I couldn’t get this view from the ground because it would have been blocked by trees. The sunset was beautiful that day!

Stay tuned for updates as I work on some new aerial shots that I’ll add to my online store. Have a great weekend everyone! 😃
